LinkedIn. Facebook. Twitter. Instagram. Thereʹs a lot of conversation going on right now about how community‐based organizations can use these tools ‐ and a lot of pressure, too! This workshop will use CSCʹs research on and experience with social media to give you the lay of the land on how to use them effectively and strategically. The session will cover:
- The lay of the land: your social media options
- Thinking strategically: should you beusing social media at all?
- Social media best practices
- Privacy issues, spam, and other pitfalls
Presenter Bio Josh Smee (joshsmee@cscnl.ca) is a Project Associate with the Community Sector Council Newfoundland and Labrador (CSC), working on several consultative projects with the CSCʹs community‐sector partners and delivering capacity-building sessions around the province.
Josh is often found speaking with a roomful of people: he leads training sessions as a volunteer with the NL Sexual Assault Crisis and Prevention Centre (NLSACPC), helps facilitate open‐space visioning sessions with the municipal advocacy group Happy City St. Johnʹs, and has led several board‐training and strategic‐planning sessions for non‐profits.
